On Monday 8th July (after Maureen had been away for weekend, and Sean had 3 family members staying with us) we set off to Wellington in Somerset to collect the camper [Gordon] from Steve and Kayleigh at https://www.rent2relax.co.uk/

Unfortunately Gordon had spent the last 4 days at Silverstone and arrived back late. He needed 2 new tyres (not from the track at Silverstone!!!) - so we collected him a bit late, ........and of course in the rain!

However this extra time did mean we got to call the lovely Corinne and Adrian Brown, who with half an hour's notice gave us lunch. An unexpected pleasure.

When we got there, Steve reminded us of how everything worked. (We'd had a weekend in it in the month before to get used to it). We transferred all our stuff - in the rain, filled in paperwork, and Sean drove out through the village of Wellington with it's narrow streets (eek!).

When we got going we both remembered how to use gears (our car is automatic), and to remember that this vehicle is distinctly bigger than what we're used to!!!

Our campsite the first night was near Stonehenge - where we arrived about 8.15pm. We'd had to ring the site to say we were going to be late - they said no problem and told us just to drive into a particular place....except when we got there those sites were all full! Another phone call allowed us to pitch somewhere else - in the rain!

A walk over the wet grass took us to the toilets block, and in the morning we had slightly inadequate showers that cost us a pound!

But hey, we had food and wine...and tea, and we were warm and dry - so all was well.
