Thursday we travelled to the city of Bremen in Germany. It was quite a long journey, and we did get a bit bored near the end ["Are we nearly there yet?"]. I think this was partly because the land is so flat. Fields of mainly maize, and as we got into Germany more forested areas, but still pretty flat!

Here we stayed at Reisemobilstellplatz am Kuhhirten a site for camper vans only.

The name means "Camper Van Stopping Place" - does what it says on the tin! Appenently they have 100 places, but you can't book so you turn up and find a space - a bit stressful parking among lots of other vans, but mostly they have a bit of grass outside where you can set up. Once set up (after a cup of tea of course!) we walked into Bremen, where we saw protests about Ukraine, anti Nato & war, and for Pride - all taking place in the same square! We found a nice place by the river, and felt as we were in Germany we had to drink some beer (rather unusual for me!).

Day 2 Another trip into Bremen - this time catching a little ferry across the river, then walking down the other side into town. We discovered the Old Town, which had lots of cute little streets and tiny houses. We found the tallest 'Roland' - apparently these statues are a sign of free trade and strength, dating back to the time of Charlemagne around C8th! Bremen has the biggest!! Another Bremen special is the statue of the Four musicians of Bremen - read the Grimm's fairy tale here!

But best of all was Heilige Magdalenakerk (Church of St Magdalene) - a church with amazing stained glass windows, beautiful sculptures AND a massive swing!
