[Posts 1-14 can be found here] Our last night in Drammen (on the Drammen river that joins the Drammen fjord that runs into the Oslo fjord) was still beautiful, but during the night the predicted heavy rain appeared - and woke us up!

In the morning there were puddles everywhere - the local swans and their cygnet thought the whole field was their river now, and were not amused by us getting in their way "hisssss".

We'd spent the last evening reviewing our travel plans, and looking up campsites. We heard that Odda was very busy and touristy, so looked for somewhere else. We found a campsite in Bakka (no, I'd never heard of it either) and booked a camping place looking out over a fjord.

So we set off in the heavy rain for our all day journey - we left just after 10am and got here at 4.15pm. On the way we had stopped to do some shopping, had lunch in the camper - feeling very grateful as it was tipping it down at the time, and swopped drivers several times. It wasn't an easy drive as the roads were both bendy and hilly, close to the fjord/river edge, and it was raining! My particular joys [not!] were the hairpin bends and the 12 mile long tunnel I drove through (as well as at least 4 others varying in length, including a 5k and 3k!). However - even in the rain and mist, the views were AMAZING. We kept saying "Wow, just wow!", and as we drove (and prayed!) the weather gradually got better, and by the time we approached our destination the sun was making an appearance.

The actual turn off to the site was interesting - first we drove up what looked like a pile of stone building works, onto a single track road - then entering a one-way tunnel for about a mile, then about 3 more miles of single track but after the tension of all that we arrived at a stunning place. A fjord! Naeroyfjorden! Beautiful. Definitely off the beaten track.

Most of the campsites have been mostly monocultural, or at most bicultural...and us, but here there are a variety: Norwegian, Belgian, Czech, Italian, French, Dutch, German, Swiss....and for the first time since we left UK there are some British people! The only other place we have heard English (as first language) spoken was in touristy Copenhagen! It's been refreshing, and interesting, to be the 'foreigner'.

Need to include my usual facilities update - they are nice, but not enough, and only 1 block quite far away...and you have to pay for the showers!

But the views are amazing (I may have mentioned that already!!)
