Today has been summed up in one word RAIN !

You remember how the Norwegians told us the weather wasn't always like this?!!

We left Drammen as we had the last time - in heavy rain, with the field becoming something of a swamp (though no swan attack this time!). Although I have to report - I know you were wondering - that the shower at the top is excellent for washing hair, and it's free so no worries about being left with a soapy head!

We had the excitement of getting fuel - which cost 1,248.98 kroner! Sounds a lot (and it was a lot!) doesn't it? Mind you diesel here is cheaper than in England!

We then drove through lots of rain, lots of tunnels (Sean thinks Norway must be the expert at building long tunnels through mountains!), mist and .....rain! We did discover that an advantage of the long tunnels is that they do give you a break from the torrential rain :-)

We made for a supermarket and did a bit of shopping (it was dry in there!) then found our campervan campsite, which seems nice enough (toilets OK!!) and have just spent the afternoon enjoying the fact we have a comfy watertight campervan to hang out in, rather than a tent! Sean's been playing his low D whistle, we've both been reading and doing some planning for the rest of the trip.

The rain eased off in the evening (not stopped, just eased!) so we put on jeans, trainers and raincoats and set off for the nearest bit of town. We found an area by the fjord/river with loads of restaurants and bars - lovely, and I'm sure will be more lovely (and more crowded) in the sunshine. A covered but outside bar with heaters and blankets was just the place for a quick drink - civilisation was near!
